Osiris, the revered god of the afterlife, resurrection, and eternal kingship—a deity of paramount importance in the Egyptian pantheon.

Osiris, often depicted as a mummified pharaoh with a distinctive white crown, embodied the very essence of Egyptian spirituality. His role was pivotal in proving that their was life after death and represented divine resurrection. He was known as the “Father” and “The King Of Kings”.

The name "Osiris" is what the Greeks called him. The Ancient Peoples of that time called him “Aussar or Assar”, in hieroglyphics is elegantly represented as an eye, a throne, and an "ankh" symbol enclosed within a cartouche. These symbols bear profound significance: the eye represents his all-seeing and protective nature, the throne signifies his royal authority, and the ankh symbolizes life and immortality. Enclosed within a cartouche, his name conveys protection and everlasting significance.

The word cartouche is French, and derives from the word “carcass”, meaning dead bodies. They usually found these amulets in the tombs of the pharaohs. That’s why they called them cartouches(carcasses).

But the correct name for these oval shaped pieces of art is “Shen”, is a prominent oval shape that enclosed hieroglyphic symbols. It was reserved for the names of Pharaohs and deities. It signified the eternal nature of the individual whose name it contained, shielding them from harm in both the mortal realm and the afterlife.

For the ordinary person, a jewel with the name of the deity or king in the cartouche(Shen) guaranteed the wearer's protection.

The medallion
I think it beautiful, I gifted it to my partner . The only issue is that the medallion is too heavy for the necklace! He slept with it on and woke up discovering the medallion came off, i I bent it back together with pliers

The best way to care for your jewelry is to clean it with a soft microfiber cloth. In addition, swimming or taking a shower with your jewelry are never recommended as this can result in damage to the metal due to the harsh chemicals in chlorine & some soaps.
