Description

The hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa and commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings.

The Hamsa symbol oldest origins are from Mesopotamia and Cartage, where a Punic and Phoenician goddess Tanit was worshipped.

The Buddhism each finger has it’s own energy:

Thumb- Fire element, solar plexus chakra.

Forefinger- Air element, heart chakra.

Middle Finger- Ethereal elements, throat chakra.

Ring Finger- Earth element, root chakra.

Pinkie Finger- Water element, sacral chakra.

The hand, the eye, and the number five figure significantly in Arabic and Berber tradition and also relate to warding off the evil eye, or the hand of peace.

The Hamsa is also called the “Hand of Fatima”, after Fatima Zahra, daughter of the Prophet Muhammad. The five fingers of the hand are further associated with the Five Pillars of Islam.
